Our "Think Local" Initiative

When we say that Alosra is your local supermarket, we aren’t just saying it – we really mean it! Alosra has championed supporting local farmers and producers in Bahrain since 2011, with the launch of the ‘Think Local’ initiative. We are very proud of this longstanding initiative and the continuous support of our Bahraini farmers in expanding our current offering of local, fresh, nutritious and quality produce. Almost 15% of Alosra’s produce supply is now grown locally, ensuring a mutually beneficial partnership between the store and local producers.

Since then, the initiative has evolved to encompass a variety of local entrepreneurs and consumer goods businesses. Amongst our Think Local ventures are: Sadiq Mirza Farm, Poppilicious, Sprouting Journey, By Nabeel’s Pizza and Pies and much more. Ultimately, “Think Local” is about creating wellbeing for local communities, but also relating to the zero waste of local talent, truth, and improving transparency.
